New oil electric car arrives for Canadian National rails

Western Canada sees the oil electric car on an endurance Montreal to Vancouver run under its own power before returning to Edmonton for the Edmonton Vermilion branch line. The car carries about 60 passengers plus baggage and express and recently made a record to Vancouver. Similar 120 passenger articulated cars are in service in Eastern Canada with lower operating costs. Additional cars are being built and sent west for branch lines. Traction uses a fuel oil airplane type engine generating electricity, reducing fuel and operating costs. Each car can handle a trailer when needed.
