Integrated Border Enforcement Team to be based in Boissevain with three officers expected to arrive in February or March after earlier plans for a fall setup. The team will police the Canada US border, gather intelligence, and work on anti terrorism tasks.
Manitoba introduces a law effective December 2 that seizes and sells vehicles of drivers with three drunk driving convictions within five years, and also punishes first time offenders who flee police or injure or kill someone with a vehicle. Attorney General Gord Mackintosh warns that a driver can kiss their vehicle goodbye.
Elmer Unger of the Russell Citizens on Patrol gathered Alvin Kingdon Merri Kiliwnik Cst Collin Hay Arvella Unger and Jean Betke to thank them for donations to the local COP program. He received the Safer Communities Award from Attorney General Gord Mackintosh for crime prevention work. 25 individuals were nominated province wide.
