Russell Council Hard Line on Welfare Policy
The Russell Town Council met on November 27 to discuss Social Assistance meals added to the roll. Mayor Langford and Wally Brad expressed a stance against a welfare reputation while addressing basic needs. Guy C. McMurray eyed combined insurance to save about 1000 dollars but Langford favored supporting local agents. Town Forman Eric Payne reported sewer blockages under Main Street were cleared. The chamber requested a town holiday for January 2, 1961. Residential lot prices were to be reviewed. Meeting adjourned at 11:10 p.m. with reconvening set for December 9.
