The Young Women's Club held a successful bazaar in the United Church basement on Saturday November 20 and realized 278000. They thank all who saved home cooking and other donations. The annual meeting will be at Mrs Barker's on December 13.

Reeve Contest In Silver Creek In By Election

The resignation of Reeve Mike Gallant in Silver Creek triggers a by election on Friday December 10. Nomination day saw two candidates Rodney J Nield and Norman A Robertson file for the office. Nield farms south of Angusville and is son of former reeve D G Nield. Robertson, from Silverton, has prior council experience before retirement. Gallant left Argusville to reside in Winnipeg.

Nesbitt Dies At Shoal Lake Dairy Leader 74

John R. Nesbitt, 74, longtime figure with Smellie Bros. & Co., died Friday at his Shoal Lake home. Funeral held Monday with Dr. Pearson and Dr. Murray assisting. Pallbearers included R. C. Smellie and others from the firm. Nesbitt helped lead Shoal Lake creamery to butter-making victories and contributed to hospital and wildlife sanctuary projects. Survived by wife, two sons Walter of Shoal Lake and Jack of Winnineg, and three daughters Ina, Mrs. Don Gillespie of Winnineg, and Cora of Fortage la Prairie.
