Ice and Wildlife on Frozen Waters From a Winter Sketch
A reflective piece on ice conditions and winter skating notes how ice quality changes with weather. It highlights pond life seen through a marsh boardwalk, including water boatmen, backswimmers, and predacious diving beetles, plus glimpses of muskrat and beaver activity. The text also links ice to predator dynamics, mentioning wolves chasing elk, and recalls a warden's tale of wolves steering bulls onto Baldy Lake ice.
