Silverton residents plan a debate tonight while Messrs Allen and Madill dig the town well for a new church stable. Lena McKay of Russell visits relatives, and R Keating returns from a holiday with his sister in Neepawa. The Women's Missionary Society met at Mrs Coulte's home. The Literary Society hosted Burns night with talks by Miss Davidson, Mr Irwin, and Rev Beveridge. Longfellow is chosen as the poet for December 8th.
Boulton Jas. Stevens is reported on the sick list and Miss Mary Smith has recovered from illness. Joe Norquay loads two cars with cats at Eadcliffe. Boulton school district meeting set for the first Monday in December. A party gathered at Edwin Armstrong’s Friday night for a pleasant time. J. T. Adams returned with threshing gear from the Galician settlement after a difficult month. Four Boulton stalwarts visited the Grain Growers' Association meeting at Asessippi, which lacked key, light and fire. A reorganizing meeting is planned at Boulton school house on Friday Dec 16 at 7:30 pm with assurances of fire and horse space. The Asessippi gathering is deemed a failure hindering alignment with western associations to send Ottawa delegates or push rail development for local farmers.
Shellmouth and Gladstone visitors during the week include W Whaley R Switzer from Gladstone and Mrs A Roberts returning from Gladstone. A Mc Donagh and Y Attwood shipped two carloads of cattle and hogs. The CN Rail will carry mail eastward starting the 1st with Monday and Friday arrivals and Tuesday Saturday departures.
Hall Caine drama The Manxman staged in Russell on Thursday evening led by Frederick Clarke. The production promises vivid acting, gripping love scenes, and strong dialogue, with a cast described as brilliant and above typical melodrama for theatregoers.
Sale of farm stock and implements belonging to S T Bennetts set for Tuesday at 1 pm, located 34 percent miles south of Harrowby. Auctioneer A R McIntyre conducts the sale.
