Legacy of Dr. Frank Skinner Shaped Prairie Horticulture
The Frank Skinner Arboretum preserves the life work of horticulturist Dr. Frank Skinner (1882-1967) who migrated from Scotland in 1895 and created a natural plant laboratory on the prairies. He developed over 200 plant varieties, earned honors, and was famed for lilacs roses and honeysuckles. The arboretum trail displays species like Red Pine Showy Mountain Ash and Japanese Elm. Visitors may tour the trail with voluntary donations.
