Borderland seeks input from project neighbors

Borderland Ventures LP and Canadian BioEnergy Inc propose an integrated ethanol plant and feedlot in RM of Silver Creek. The 26.5 million dollar project would use wheat and barley locally, create 30 jobs, and generate about 120 thousand dollars yearly in local taxes. Neighbors are asked for feedback within two weeks with a form letter to approve or oppose.

Teachers Busy Start New School Year At Divisional In Service

Jamie Michaluk is assigned to Bin Scarth grade two. On Monday August 29 the division’s teachers begin year with a divisional in service introducing new staff and reviewing initiatives. In the afternoon staff meetings occur at each school. Major Pratt and Rossburn Collegiate train on the computerized record keeping system for grades 5 to 12. Tuesday Rossburn hosts a seminar for small schools on the health curriculum and reviews intervention and de escalation of behaviour programs. Rossburn also addresses literacy and grade book keeping. Major Pratt staff discuss a school wide discipline plan tying in last year’s anti bullying program with help from Spencer Clements and Gary Sova.

Telehealth network eyed to boost regional care access

The Telehealth Network aims to connect Russell and other regional sites with specialists, enabling remote eye, heart and dermatology consultations. Doctors stress patient acceptance and regional demand, with assessments ongoing and a yearend launch anticipated across the region.
