Fire truck calls haunt Main Street amid false alarms
Fire fighters have responded to the PCH four times in the first two weeks of August, including twice in one day. Neighbours complain of noise and risk as alarms trigger false alerts, with Countryside Controls called in to repair the system. Major Pratt School and the Liquor Mart also use alarms but report far fewer false calls. Fire Chief Hank Smith warns frequent false alarms force trucks along Main Street with safety risks to crew and public, and suggests better alarm sensitivity is needed to protect residents and staff.
