Prairie stewardship program aims to preserve mixed grass prairie
The Mixed-Grass Prairie Stewardship Program MGPSP begun in 1999 seeks to raise public understanding of native prairie in the Carberry Sandhills area. It tracks remaining prairie, educates through workshops and tours, and recognizes landowners for sustainable management. Funding comes from Environment Canada Habitat Stewardship Program EcoAction 2000 and Manitoba groups with MCPA joining to expand incentives.
