Memorial Day observance scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. in Russell marks the seventh annual ceremony since World War I. Veterans are urged to attend. floral tributes welcome, with committees listed for arrangements and collection.
Victoria Maud Berrington daughter of W. M. Berrington Inglis married James Herbert Gillies at Christ Church Russell on Thursday August 6 at 3 30 pm. The couple left for Lake Carlyle after lunch at the bride’s home and will reside on the Gillies farm east of Inglis. The bride wore satin and lace with lily of the valley flowers. wedding party wore peach and voile.

Thomas Francis Williamson died Friday morning at age 75 after a short illness. Born January 19 1856 in Frome Somersetshire he married Emily Parfitt of Parfitt Denham London and lived briefly in Assiniboine Valley. He leaves a daughter and two sons Percy and Gordon, plus two sisters in England. Funeral Saturday from Christ Church with Rev N C Smith officiating. pallbearers listed.
Ev Mr Douglas and daughter Muriel returned home after a brief visit renewing acquaintances. Mrs H Ebbern came back from a honeymoon trip and settles in their new home. W Broadfoot spent the week in town then returned to Calder for construction work. Mr and Mrs R Blakely and family came back from holidays Saturday. Cooperative cattle hog shipment led by M D Peddie reported fair prices with steers around 73.50. Another shipment planned next week. Barb and cutting operations rise with hot weather toll on the local hay crop. Fortunes show small acreage in the district. Church services scheduled for Sunday with Sunday School at 2 15 and service at 3 pm.
A man injured when a threshing engine crushed both legs is treated at a hospital. Doctors saved his limbs and he plans to donate $299 for nine years to support the hospital as he leaves, urging others to do their best for the world.
