Life In The Far North Proves Interesting
Last Thursday a large consignment of letters from the Arctic posts via Shurchhill reached Mrs. D. A. Wilder spin nee Evelyn Cope and others up north. She writes of life at Fort Chimo on the Bay of Ungava during the first year there including Christmas New Year St Patrick and birthday celebrations. She serves as organist of the Anglican Church and hymns are sung in Eskimo. Mrs. Wilderspin has acclimatized and notes natives value any interest shown. She asks friends in Russell and district to remember her and hopes for more messages when the broadcast service resumes. Messages from the north convey strong appreciation for the sender’s words.
