First County Rifle Shoot Forms Russell County Association
The first rifle shoot under Russell County Rifle Association was held last Friday and Saturday with teams from Shellmouth Asessippi Boulton and Russell competing. Silver Creek did not participate but may join next shoot as officers organize at a banquet by Jantyne Bros. The league may include Binscarth Rossburn Silver Creek Russell Shellmouth Asessippi Houston Roblin and Seeburn. The Russell club faced a late start due to not yet receiving rifles. Asessippi won by 35 points with 623 to 588.

Pioneer Robert Brooks Dies In Shell River District
The late Robt John Brooks a Shell River pioneer died last Wednesday at his home in Tumbell after a 16 day illness from hemorrhage of the brain. Born in Esquesing Halton May 18 18, he moved to Tumbell in 1882 with his family and ran a stopping house. He served on Shell River municipal council and was known for his hospitable nature. Funeral from the family home to Deer Park cemetery last Friday drew 90+ vehicles. Pallbearers were pioneers Geo Ford W Watson John Watson James McDougall John Kines Thos Callin. He leaves a widow and six children.
