Black Tie Fuss Leaves Bill Cold
The writer reflects on holidays and social events including a biennial gathering of the Canadian Fighter Pilots Association and a Canadian Weekly Newspapers Association convention. He dislikes the phrase black tie optional and questions the social snobbery and the presence of drinkers and old friends. He recalls past wars and friendships and notes the scattered, uneasy mood as he considers attending events.
