Battle of the Atlantic remembered in RCNA tribute
The long Allied campaign in the Atlantic saw 100,000 merchant ships reach destinations while 22,000 British sailors perished and about 10,000 naval personnel died among escort forces. By 1943 Allied ingenuity prevailed, with joint efforts across navies, air arms, shipyards, and scientists leading to defeat of the U boat threat. The Royal Canadian Navy suffered 1,797 deaths, 319 wounded, and 24 ships. Thanks to RCNA Comox Valley Branch.
