Manitoba Proclaims Retirement Savings Protection Act
The act shields funds in registered retirement savings plans from creditors starting November 1. Minister Greg Selinger notes protection applies to deferred profit sharing plans and registered retirement income funds, while registered pension plans remain already protected. Enforcement orders for maintenance or property division are excluded. The move aims to safeguard Manitobans’ retirement funds and follows other consumer protection measures.
