Community buzz claims the Toronto Dominion Bank in Rossburn will shut next spring with reports pointing to a closing date of Friday April 6. TD officials did not confirm, and local staff and Winnipeg officials did not comment, leaving Vanguard Credit Union Ltd as the sole financial institution in town.
A year after the plan to place satellites of the Community Cancer Program Network, Hamiota District Health Centre hosts a new unit with a three member team for part time treatment and a future full unit with two physicians two nurses and two pharmacists. The full program operates at multiple Manitoba towns and brings chemotherapy closer to home saving travel time and costs for rural patients.
Health Minister Dave Chomiak announced new chemotherapy facilities in Neepawa Russell and Hamiota, with satellite units opening Sept. 21. The three sites serve about 40 patients annually, easing travel to Winnipeg or Brandon. Funding totals include 110,500 to Marquette RHA and 66,600 to CancerCare Manitoba for startup plus 124,800 and 47,950 in operating funds for 2000-2001.
