The federal government says OAS GIS and Spouse's Allowance will increase in October to match living costs. OAS for those 65+ climbs to 308.19 a month. GIS max for single rises to 366.28. married GIS amounts vary by spouse status. Spouse's Allowance up to 546.75 and Widowed Spouse's Allowance up to 603.63.
The RM of Rossburn Council read By Law 1177 granting municipal assistance and By Law 1178 repealing an old by law to appoint Lorne Johnston as Fire Chief. The council set revision board members for 1987, approved resort board minutes, renewed Union of Manitoba Municipalities membership and insurance, and authorized progress payments for a machine shed. They discussed subdivision of three NE 18-20-23W lots, drilling a municipal shop well by Pete Robinson, opposed a $300000 Central School renovation, and approved general and payroll accounts totaling 79 383.50 with next meeting October 13.
The Rossburn and Foxwar ren Credit Unions merge into Vanguard Credit Union after special meetings in both towns. General manager Ian Dark is unavailable for comment from Winnipeg. Bir tle Credit Union says details will be released next week. The new entity will offer personal, business, and farm services in Rossburn and its existing branches.
