Pelly Trail Teachers Gather in Rossburn For Get Acquainted
In Rossburn on September 18 1975 the Pelly Trail Division of the Manitoba Teachers Society held a get acquainted evening for about 85 teachers administrators and trustees. The event merged a fall general meeting with an orientation program and wine and cheese social. The meeting introduced new staff and the executive with talks by Mr. Doug McIsaac superintendent Mr. Leo Duguay provincial MTS president and others.

Rossburn U C W met in the Knox United Church basement on Tuesday September 9 with fourteen members and two visitors present. Devotional scripture from the Life of Jesus themed The Christian Life and Duty. Committees planned dinner for Mr and Mrs Cormack 50th anniversary and supper for the Baker Taylor wedding on October 11.

N F U Youth Exchange Visit Members Return
Debby Nowosad and Joan Chwaluk returned home after a two week National Farmers Union youth exchange to New Brunswick Canada. They toured large fields of potatoes peas and broccoli and praised the friendly people and scenery. They thanked organizers and financiers of the trip.

Social honors Bill Chwaluk and Linda Kolinsky in Menzie
A Sept 12 social at the Ukr National Home in Menzie celebrated Bill Chwaluk and Linda Kolinsky with a large crowd. Fine Harvest Weather Returns After Heavy Rains
Following last week's heavy rains a gradual shift to favorable harvest weather began. Sunday brought clear skies and mild conditions while areas north and east of Rossburn saw high water in the Birdtail River and flooding of hay meadows. Water crossed the main road grade in the Mears district.

Rossburn elementary students under Rossburn Lions Club sponsorship will canvass the community October 6 to October 11 for the CNIB province wide appeal. CNIB provides rehabilitation services to 1 492 Manitobans who are blind and supports prevention of blindness and research benefiting all, offering independence and new community roles. The Lions urge a friendly reception and generous response to canvassers.

Young goalie Chris Mitchell earns Canucks trial while remaining in school
Chris Mitchell attended Moose Jaw Canucks Junior Hockey Club try-out camp at Moose Jaw Arena after a weekend camp. Scout Jim Botterill said the Canucks were impressed and planned to keep him as a back-up goaltender if education permits. Final plan sends him back to Rossburn for this year with a junior hockey future possible next season. Mitchell was scouted at Fort Qu’Appelle hockey school this summer.
