A government program lowers lumber costs for farmers by allowing dealers to deduct ten percent from bills and seek reimbursement as a subsidy for essential farm repairs and buildings. The subsidy covers rough and dressed soft wood, lathes, shingles, and posts but excludes hard wood and non farmhouse work. Sales thresholds apply and timber controller permission is needed for high value transactions.
Officials of the Wartime Prices and Trade Board say direct sellers may charge the same prices as retailers. Pte Leonard Ham has returned to Camp Shilo after spending his furlough with his mother and brother Melvin of Dymond.
