Isabella and Beulah schools were relocated to Birtle for the current term. Each has three classrooms and will be annexed to the existing elementary brick school. About twenty teachers join the elementary staff. Pupils from kindergarten through grade 12 will travel to Birtle by van.
Citizens may shoot bears and other predators in predator control areas south of the 53rd parallel to protect property. Predators include bears coyotes foxes wolves and their pups. nuisance animals such as blackbirds magpies sparrows and skunks may be shot anytime. Contact Conservation Officer Jack Morrison at Shoal Lake for assistance.

With frost and late season many consider cutting frozen crops for feed due to a poor hay crop. Nitrate levels in frozen green grains may be poisonous. send samples to the University of Manitoba lab for testing at one dollar, or five dollars for a complete hay and grain analysis. The Manitoba Department of Agriculture offers a forage seed policy to aid farmers in purchasing suitable forage seed, with ten mixtures including straight alfalfa. supply is limited this year and orders should go through local Agricultural Offices promptly.
