The Parkland Regional Library extends its bookmobile schedule starting in September and adds nine new stops, bringing total stops to 37. A fresh batch of books including best sellers across sports travel mysteries westerns and how-to titles will be carried.

Manitoba Sand Greens Open Championship at Rossman Lake
At Rossman Lake Golf Course during the Parkland Harvest Festival Manitoba Sand Greens Open drew 97 golfers. Mort Orr of Binscarth won the Open Championship. Flight winners included Don Thompson and Russell in Championship, P Potter and C Elvers in First Flight, F Grey and Leonard Smith in Second Flight, Keith Elvers and Bill Thompson in Third, Jack Shewchuk and P Parker in Fourth, L Thompson and H Nykofaruk in Fifth, with Wilf Lee and Dave Cleland winning Senior divisions. Most Honest Golfer was C Edward, and High Hidden Hole went to Metro Belbas of Rossburn.

Oakburn Garden Club Achievement Honors 4H Winners at Farm Home
The Oakburn 4H Garden Club held its Achievement at the Shwaluk farm on August 29, 1972. Members presented projects and tests judged by Agricultural Representative Mr. Durston. Maureen Douglas led the program and awards were given to champions, with trophies for past members and five year certificates for Ellen Muzylowski, Debbie Nowosad, and Patrick Shwaluk. Lunch followed and a prize drawing awarded Oakburn residents Rose Sawicky, Ricky Luyehshen, and Tony Koropecki.

Harvest notes show rapeseed averaging 25 30 bushels with high dockage, Zephyr likely damaged, barley under average, and frost hurting wheat and other grains.
