Kostecky Wins Rossburn Mayoral Race In Close Vote
In the municipal election held on October 22, Kostecky defeated incumbent Louis Kurchaba by 214 to 168 with seven spoiled ballots. Voter turnout reached 68 percent from 569 eligible electors. Returning Officer Leonard Mackedenski noted four incumbents were re-elected by acclamation in the council, including Calvin Brown, Ken Caldwell, Robert Hunter, and Shirley Kalyniuk. Ward 3 in Rossburn saw William Antonow top Gordon Trakalo by 16 votes, 77 to 61, with 139 of 235 casting ballots and one spoiled ballot. In Park LGD Ward 3, Mike Zemliak beat Frank Sitko 58 to 49 with 59 percent turnout.
