The Pelly Trail School Division Board notes a 1999/2000 deficit of 67 300 but a healthy year end surplus of 1 127 716. Revenue exceeded estimate by 184 916 aided by retro pay. The meeting covers upcoming Child Fair November 2 and plans on amalgamations and a three year strategic plan.
Manitoba will eliminate post adoption registration and search fees. The move, announced by Family Services minister Tim Sale, removes a 35 dollar registration fee and 265 and 180 dollar search charges first set in 1994. The province will still provide background histories and help with registrations and reunions to aid access for birth relatives seeking contact.
