A long term Riding Mountain National Park study tagged 35 bears with radio collars to map movements. Males roamed farther, with one venturing toward Brandon and another to Dauphin Lake. females traveled less, though one group reached Minnedosa with cubs.
An international event will be marked by credit unions locally starting October 12 to celebrate past achievements present contributions and future roles. The celebration ends on Credit Union Day October 20 1988 highlighting Canada’s cooperative credit union movement and member owned philosophy.
A cool week with suppressed temperatures will bring cloud cover and slightly below normal readings. Overnight lows dip to 2 C to minus 2 C, and some local showers may occur early in the week, but no widespread rain is anticipated.
The Village of Rossburn and the Rural Municipality of Rossburn have adopted updated emergency plans. EMO Minister Albert Driedger praised community leaders for approving the plans which authorize police and fire actions to protect residents during emergencies and disasters.
The RM of Rossburn council named John Mitchell, Leonard Sitko, and Nick Lysyshin to serve one year on the Rossburn Foundation Inc. board. A $1.00 compensation and a certificate of insurance were approved, with other personnel benefits discussed at the Oct. 11 meeting.
