A meeting in Rossburn Elementary School Library discussed creating a local hockey association for minor and senior teams. A steering committee of nine members was named to gather proposals, with a follow up meeting set for Tuesday Oct 14 at 8 p.m. in the Rossburn Town Hall basement.
A weather summary reports cool cloudy conditions last week with a late sun break on Wednesday after a sharp Tuesday frost. It lists last year highs and lows of 60 and 23 degrees.
Vista United Church Women regular meeting followed a devotional led by Isabel Miller with theme Foreign Matters focusing on hate and worry. Bazaar plans were finalized for October 18 with articles submitted for supply. next gathering at Mrs Stitt’s.
Sylvia Weselak of Brandon spent the week end with Mr and Mrs W Weselak. Bill Salyn and Mrs Shwaluk hosted guests. Harvey Hamilton drove to Qu Appelle Sask with Mrs Hamilton returning home. Nick Morris and family visited Mr and Mrs M Koroscil in Winnipeg. Ronnie Miller of Virden holidayed with Mr and Mrs J Miller. David Shwaluk shot a banded duck on John Nowasad's farm. The Shoal Lake Toastmasters Club resumes weekly gatherings starting Monday October 20 1969 at 6 30 p m in the Buffalo Plains Inn basement with monthly meetings in St Lazare. The group of 20 invites interested people from Oakburn St Lazare Foxwarren Ndale Minnedosa to join and grow membership.
The Rossburn Women's Institute met October 7 in the Annex with O Canada and the Creed. Mrs Moan led business while Mrs Nowosad spoke on Leadership School at Gimli and Board highlights. Jackpot won by Gladys Pritchard. next by Agnes Taylor.
The Manitoba Firearm and Hunter Safety Training Course in Rossburn attracted 63 participants for a one day session. Thirty two passed with marks ranging from 96 to 100 percent. youngest passers were 13 year olds Neil Stitt Robert Jennings and Dave Leschasin. oldest to pass was John Cormack with 100 percent. Instructor was Cpl. J R Henry RCMP Brandon. Rossburn Lions Club sponsored the course.
Rossburn Collegiate Sports Council Representatives list council members and roles across grades 9 to 12 with chair and officers. Includes names such as Karen Borowski, Morgan Taylor, Dwight Aylwin, Frances Walmsley, Delmar Yaskiw, and Betty Ann Slow, plus notes on house captains and a sports reporter assignment.
Ward 5 trustees contest pits incumbent Lawrence Parabee against Alex Chuchmuch. Voters head to the polls on Wednesday October 22. Acclamations were awarded in Ward One to Oscar Schmitke Ward Three to Ralph Tibbatts Ward Seven to Norman Major and Ward Nine to James MacMurachy.
The first fall Jackpot Bingo was held Wednesday evening in the Rossburn Town Hall. Winners included Mrs. H. Verbowski and others winning amounts from 5 to 25 dollars, with a jackpot consolation prize of 500 dollars awarded to several participants.

Great grandparents Frank Sicinsky Oakburn A Hunchak Radisson Sask Mrs Ann Hodwitz Fort William Ont. Paternal great great grandmother Mrs F Zipchen Hafford Sask aged 91.
