Local visitors and POW update from Vista community fair
Vista notes include Miss Dorothy Breaky visiting Winnipeg relatives and Mr Archie McDonald visiting his sister Mrs Les Hamilton. Pte Steve Woycheshin, previously reported missing, is now a prisoner of war in Germany but safe and well. The Boys and Girls Fair was a wartime success with 17 calves 14 pigs 5 lots of chickens and grain entries. A provincial government should co operate to release workers for threshing operations. Instead on the number 4 highway four men were seen pulling up old posts and planting new ones while farmers struggled to thresh grain with too few workers, teams, and trucks nearby.

Oakburn Notes Include Visits and Railway Work
Miss Mabel Sitko of Winnipeg spent a week with her parents. Hubert has begun work on the Oakburn railway station. Mr and Mrs Mandziuk and family visited Mr and Mrs Storc zuk at Rossburn on Saturday. Miss Gertrude Yanick came from Brandon to spend a few weeks at home. Work proceeds nicely on Mr Mandziuk s new office. Pte Pete Macyshyn Pte Steve Peech and Pte Paul Kotyk were home on week end leaves. Mr Stanley Kotyk and Mr Walter Nahiroey left for Yorkton to attend St Josephs College.

Prisoner in Germany Linked to Dieppe Raid Deaths
Ewingshen learns her son Michael once reported killed in the Dieppe raid is now a prisoner in Germany. Visitations were noted between local residents and families in Rossburn and area. Sincere sympathies extended to Miss Mazier after learning her brother was killed overseas. A former Rossburn teacher, Sergeant Michael Mazier, is reported killed in active service. William Puyda, a former student, has been engaged to teach Olha School.
