Rossburn Gets Large Night Sign On Highway 16

The RM and Village of Rossburn with the Chamber of Commerce erected two 30 by 10 foot signs along Highway 16 to guide travelers to the community. Fluorescent lettering and service symbols boost visibility at night. Darren Gauthier of Northern Signs in Rossburn designed and made the signs.

First Nations program visits Rossburn Elementary School

The Shawenequanape Kipichewin program, run by the First Nations owned Kipichewin camp, brought traditional tools games and Anishinabe values to Rossburn Elementary School. Staff from local nations led age appropriate demonstrations in May and June and educators requested school visits in the future.

Problems at arena discussed by council

The Rossburn council met at the Rossburn Memorial Arena to inspect concrete pads under the roof beams and considered funding options for a future facility or shell over the ice while keeping the waiting room. MTS seeks higher local rates. council urges CRTC to reject the June 13 1997 filing. By law 97 872 third reading debentures for asphalt work approved. A $30 donation is set to the Rossburn Foundation in memory of former councillor Mike Baubie.

Computers to Upgrade Manitoba Schools Receives 200000 Support

Education Minister Linda McIntosh announced a 200000 grant to continue upgrading and distributing used computers to Manitoba schools. Peter George Dyck presented the cheque on behalf of the minister to the Manitoba Telephone Pioneers, which assist the program. Volunteers and students refurbish surplus computers donated by industry and governments for delivery to public schools.
