Esso bulk agent retires after 19 busy years in Rossburn

After 19 years as Esso bulk agent in Rossburn Mike Hersack retires. He began in 1967 with Harry Verbowski, took over in 1975, later consolidated agencies, and bought the Rossburn service station in 1987. His son Dwayne remains in Esso operations while Hersack will scale back and enjoy more golf.

Terry Fox Run raises $1 088 pledge total

The Rossburn District Health Centre Auxiliary held its Terry Fox Run on Sunday September 19 with 32 participants and pledges totaling 1088.85. Local supporters from Shoal Lake Oakburn and Rossburn area contributed, with Sonia Borowski the oldest and Hannah Jane Burt the youngest participant.

Rural trucking industry facing tough times

The Manitoba Transport Board approved a Winnipeg company to haul CP Rail trailers into rural Manitoba, a move critics say threatens rural trucking. Rural carriers have fallen from 140 in 1970 to under 50 today, with opposition from 15 truckers at the hearing and claims of deregulation harming the sector.
