Delegates Named to Mast Convention and Board Actions

The Pelly Trail Board met November 23 at Angusville School with most trustees present. Five trustees Langford Collins McMurphy Michalyshyn Parabee were named to the MAST Convention, with the superintendent and secretary-treasurer. The board authorized bus and classroom equipment purchases, adopted transportation policy, and set a 1969 bus-order deadline. The meeting adjourned after approving several reports and plans.

Deer Head Competition Opens For Local Hunters

The Rossburn Game and Fish Association hosts the second annual Deer head competition open to all members. Heads must be submitted to the committee two days after the season closes, with sponsorship by the association.

Orest Smycnuik Heads Curling Club

The Rossburn Men s Curling Club elected Orest Smycnuik as president and Don Stitt as vice president at its annual meeting held on Thursday evening November 21. Draw-master is Wm Silewich and a secretary treasurer was not named. A Cash Spiel is planned for December 13 14 15 as a mixed bonspiel. The annual bonspiel date is February 22 with discussion on mixed curling but no decisions made.

Lions Club Eighth Anniversary Party Draws Record crowd

The Lions Club marked its eighth anniversary at the Rossburn Town Hall with a large turnout. O Canada opened the evening, followed by grace. Lion Harold Metcalf reviewed the year, and attendance pins were handed to Don Erickson and Lloyd Willett. The event supported the Senior Citizens Housing project.

Women’s Institute Visit to Silverton Event

Mrs Andy Moan Mrs Wilson Stitt Mrs Robert Alexander and Mrs Howard McIntosh travelled to Silverton for a Women’s Institute Live in held after Brandon. The event opened with O Canada and the creed followed by a thought for the day and a sing song enjoyed by all. Mrs Viola Coulter Silverton W I president gave the welcome address. Mrs Evans of Silverton introduced district president Mrs P Nowosad.

Two Resolutions Proposed At Manitoba Municipal Convention

At the Union of Manitoba Municipalities convention in Winnipeg two Rossburn Rural Municipality resolutions were discussed. One urged financial help from Manitoba and Canada for damages from wildlife in Riding Mountain National Park including beavers elk and bears. The second noted highway load limits differ on Provincial Trunk Highways and provincial roads and called for consistent restrictions affecting municipal roads. Attending were Reeve John Mitchell and Councillors Joe Dnistransky Ernest Drul and William Hyra.

Seminar Probes Local Problems In Rossburn

The Rossburn Chamber of Commerce and the Manitoba Department of Agriculture sponsored a two day seminar at the Rossburn Town Hall on November 24 and 25. About 45 residents discussed five main problem areas including leadership town rural communications Indian relations business quality and recreation. A plan to form an Area Development Conference was proposed to coordinate future community action.

Officials note unprecedented temperature spread with a high of 53 on November 26, 1962 and a low of 30 on November 29, 1958, marking extreme records for the period.

Hockey Meeting At Rossburn Elementary School

A meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday December 2 at Rossburn Elementary to discuss Minor and Intermediate Hockey for the coming season. Intermediates deadline is set for December 4 for league entry.
