Rossburn Hockey Club plans a season revamp with stronger player strength and ongoing negotiations for top talent. District residents will be informed as plans finalize, and local youths are invited to try out for a position on the team this winter. Contact the coach at the Rossburn number for practice details.
The Agricultural Society held a successful Bingo on Wednesday November 19 realizing $83.00. The society thanks all who helped. Prize winners include Alex Andrew with a towel set, Mrs Jim Carson with a water pail and mixing bowls, Melville Brown with a tie and sock set, Mrs L McMillan with a clothes basket, Bill Mitchell with a thermometer, Mrs B Mitchell with a water set, Mrs Daisy Baydock with a subscription to Review, Mrs J Smith with an anti freeze, Mrs H McKnight with a goose and a tie and sock set, Mike Piasta with a tie and sock set, Paul Ter ABowsky with tea and coffee, Mrs J Biaskiewicz with pillow cases, Mrs Bill Belbas with a box of apples, Diane Shust with a pickle dish, Mrs R Doubleday with a hamper of groceries, Mrs H McKnight with a chicken, Mrs H McIntosh with a cake saver, and Jim Smith with a picture.
The Rossburn W A held a Tea and Bazaar on Saturday November 22 with proceeds over 94 dollars. Explorers ran a candy sale table W MS offered a Home cooking table C G T had a Fish Pond. The W A thanks all who attended and donated generously.
Funeral services were held at Knox United church in Ressburn for Mrs. Albert Ament who died after a short illness. Born in Larimore North Dakota she came to Canada in 1902 and settled in Cardston Alberta before moving to Manitoba in 1916. She married Albert Ament in 1921 and is survived by husband Gordon and daughters Irene Taylor and Leila Morrison among seven grandchildren. Interment followed in Rossburn cemetery with out of town mourners attending.
Winnipeg special report: Hon. Errick Willis announces the appointment of Harvey C. Goehring as Agricultural Representative at Shoal Lake. Goehring moves from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan where he served as Assistant Agricultural Representative and participated in 4-H Club work. Parents farm in Langenburg Saskatchewan. University of Saskatchewan graduate 1907 with farm management specialty.
After years of activity the Oakburn Home and School Association reorganized on November 21. Mrs Gamey of Strathclair and Mrs Switzer led about fifty attendees in selecting an executive. The next meeting December 17 will feature a family film.
Ethel Merle Muir and Charlie Edward Miller wed at Rossburn United Church Manse Saturday November 22 at 4 p m. The bride wore a beige tweed outfit with yellow carnations. attendant Ellen Miller wore light green with pink carnations. Groom’s party included George Johnson of Ottawa. reception at the groom’s home. Out of town guests and final residence listed for the couple in Winnipeg.
Mrs Walter Taylor of Ocean Falls visited her parents Mr and Mrs M D Hamilton. The Vista W A will hold its regular meeting at Mrs W J Hamilton's home on December 3. Roll call is donations to the hospital. those wishing to donate may leave contributions at the Post Office.
The Manitoba School Boundaries Commission meets for the first time under Justice A M Mannin to map 1600 districts into tentative secondary divisions. A public hearing is set for December 2 in Rossburn Town Hall with a December 31 proposal deadline. Readers are urged to attend and question officials to form informed opinions on the boundary plan.
Rossburn residents face a final deadline of November 30 for M H S P premiums. With Sunday the 30th, payments must be made by Saturday to ensure coverage. Rural areas show $3,866.30 remaining and village totals leave $1,340.70 unpaid from current collections.
A successful dance sponsored by Oakburn High School was held at the Ukrainian National Home on November 14 1958. Proceeds will fund the upcoming graduation.
A daughter was born to Mr and Mrs Eugene Lee Rosaburn on November 23. The newborn adds joy to the family as relatives share in the occasion.
Michael Lesehasin a 91 year old pioneer of Marco born July 21 1867 in Ukraine died at home November 6. Survived by wife 8 sons and 6 daughters 39 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral at Rossburn Ukrainian Catholic Church November WWth officiated by Father Lehky with pallbearers and grandsons leading the procession. Rae's Funeral Home in charge.
