Mr and Mrs Peter Belinski moved into town about two weeks ago, settling after moving from the former Vin Mur area. The note appears in Vista News with a brief welcome alongside local updates and neighborhood chatter.
Cameron A. Menzies died Wednesday in Rossburn Hospital. Born in Molesworth Ontario he moved to Rossburn 1906 and ran a general store until 1913. He later led the Rossburn implement agency until 1952 and served as an elder of Rossburn United Church for 30 years. He is survived by his wife Elsie and three brothers. Funeral was held at Rossburn United Church with Rev H Alston officiating. Burial followed in Rossburn Cemetery.
A meeting for the minor hockey league will be held at the Rossburn Skating Rink on Friday November 27 at 8 o'clock. All boys wishing to play should attend and parents are asked to be present.
Mrs Mary Shor rock was elected president of the Hospital Aid at its annual meeting. Officers include Mrs May Lawless vice president and Mrs G Stewart secretary treasurer. Sewing committee members are Mrs Roby Mitchell Mrs D Ukrainetz and Mrs E Elvers. Mrs Layng to buy treats for in patients at Christmas. A laundry hamper cart will be purchased. Next meeting January 26 1960 at Mrs Ted Stewart's home.
A roster of residents appears including Mr A C Johnston of Dauphin, Mr T Ferguson of Indian Springs, Mr and Mrs Allan Ross and Mr and Mrs Cameron Ross and Mr and Mrs Donald Ross of Basswood, Mrs Kate Ross, Mr Gordon Ross, Mrs Robt Fraser, Mr and Mrs Max Fraser of Binscarth, and Rev Whetter of Birtle.
Manitoba's Agricultural Credit Corporation has loaned over 3 million dollars in six months. Appraisers contact farmer applicants, secure confidential land and financial checks, and ensure loans fund land, buildings, livestock and equipment while keeping operations sound. Veterans and details of inspections are shown in accompanying photos.
Rossburn Village Council met November 17 with Mayor Moffat and all councillors. Minutes and financial statement approved. Disorderly conduct fines totaled 35 dollars. Water works system to Town Hall by Dodds and Silewich, finish by Christmas 1959. No decorated tree on Victoria Mountain area. southeast tower hall and bank property evergreens to be lit. Resolution against trading stamps and cash register tape plans sent to Justice Minister Fulton and Attorney General Lyon. Ten dollar grant to St John Ambulance Brigade approved. Adjourned to December 15.
Mr and Mrs M D Hamilton returned from Winnipeg last week. Sympathy to Mrs Menzies in her bereavement. Lorne Mackedenski of Shellmouth visited home over the week end. John Young of Ninette visited with Robi Young and family. The Chesneys and Mary Powell of Brandon joined Mr and Mrs A Chesney. Hamiltons and their boys from McConnell spent the weekend with J Hullick, who has returned from a western trip. Woycheshin and Baker families visited H Katchin at Angusville. Ed Haraluke and Sylvia Belinski of Winnipeg visited the Belinski home. H Armstrong and family visited W Breakey at Foxwarren.
Mrs David McDonald born in Scotland died November 8 1959 after long illness. She came to Winnipeg then Vista district where she lived since and joined Argyle Presbyterian Church. Funeral at Vista United Church with Pastor Baker Rossburn, interment in Argyle cemetery. She is survived by relatives.
Influx of hunters reports many elk sightings and successful shoots near the park. Farmers near the park line face crop damage as the elk persist through winter. Manitoba licenses total 120 sold by Norm Major, with calls to earmark revenues for farmer relief and elk herd management.
