Rossburn Pool Elevator Association Elects Directors
The Rossburn Pool Elevator Association held its 1954 annual meeting on November 19 after a 6 p.m banquet served by Hospital Aid. About 106 attended. Wes Williamson chaired and thanked the caterers. Directors elected included Ed Shust, Harris Huston, Bert Mitchell, Bill Elvers, with Dan Kiez and Mike Ryszytylo as junior directors. Mike Ryszytylo was named delegate for next fall’s convention. The elevator had burned in December 1952 with six months of no grain, yet the association posted a surplus over 7 000 dollars.

Canada’s Budd RDCs usher in modern rail car era
More than fifty years after introducing the first self propelled rail car Canada’s CPR places four Budd RDC units in service. The air conditioned 89 passenger cars run in routes between Montreal and Mont Laurier Toronto Detroit North Bay and Anglers. The 1902 original linked Montreal Place Viger Station to Ste Therese as a forerunner to stainless steel diesel cars.

Mrs George Nield Remembered As Last Ross Family Member
Laura Mabel Ross later known as Mrs. David George Nield died in Russell after a long life tied to Rossburn. Born June 5 1884 on the old Ross farm, she married in 1904 and lived near Angusville before retiring to Russell in 1945. Funeral held at United Church Russell with interment in Russell cemetery. pallbearers were six sons.
