Manitoba school officials study emergency planning course
The Emergency Measures Organization led the first two day course in Winnipeg on November 15 and 16 for about 40 senior school administrators. The pilot program, sponsored by the Manitoba Association of School Trustees with EMO and Manitoba Education and Training, aims to broaden hazard planning beyond fire drills and snow storms and to prepare districts for rural rollout in early 1990.

Manitoba Local Governments Receive Unconditional Payroll Tax Grants
Rural Development Minister Jack Penner announced 63 456 for local government general support in mid western Manitoba. Grants, based on 2.35 percent of last year’s eligible payroll costs, go to all local governments including rural municipalities towns villages LGDs and cities outside Winnipeg with detailed distributions listed for each district and village.
