Prairie waste becomes jobs with West-Central Pelleting Ltd

The venture funded by 2.5 million raised through shares opened June 1998 with potential expansion to four plants across the grain belt. Traffic gates boost safety on Trans-Canada near Portage la Prairie

Transportation minister Steve Ashton announced a $30,000 pilot on the Trans-Canada Highway near Portage la Prairie introducing aluminum control gates and warning signs to halt traffic during snowstorms. Gates swing across lanes to block access and detach if struck, with seven locations listed along west and east sides of the city.

Parkland Regional Winter Games Set for January Figure Skating

The 2002 Parkland Regional Winter Games feature figure skating among 12 sports. Competition runs January 19 20 in Gilbert Plains and Grandview with events for females aged 10 13 and 14 16 and males 10 16 plus synchronized skating teams.
