Manitoba proposes amendments to the Consumer Protection Act to ban multi year and lifetime contracts by health fitness and similar firms. Direct or prepaid service cancellations would be limited to one year with at least two installments, and buyers have 10 days to cancel with written notice.
The Rossburn and District Seniors Helpers hosted a Health Fair at Rossburn Town Hall aimed at informing seniors about available services. Forty two attended afternoon sessions and fourteen joined the evening programs. RCMP Constable Tony White spoke, cautioning seniors about door to door sales and urging contact with RCMP before signing. A Q A session followed.
Assistant Commissioner Henry directs Rossburn detachment to form a local Community Advisory Committee with one volunteer from each area including Rossburn Village Lizard Point Reserve parts of Silver Creek and Park. First meeting set for December 6 at 1 p.m. at Rossburn Town Hall with meetings rotating and no separate budget. Detective Sgt Don Roy invites questions.
