4H Sewing Club Achievement Night Honors Members

At the Rossburn 4-H Sewing Club Achievement Night Miss Peggy Barker awarded 15 red and 2 blue ribbons for sewing and handicraft. Frances Walmsley chaired. Theresa Perchaluk was secretary. Mothers’ and leaders’ remarks were given by Mrs. Matusko and Mrs. Fink. A display titled Centennial was chosen to compete at Shoal Lake Rally on July 10. Connie Kozack selected for Centre Piece Queen. Several items and names listed for future issue.

Rossburn Hospital Auxiliary Meeting May Report

The Rossburn Hospital Auxiliary met May 23 at Jean Lawless’s home with sixteen members. Officers adopted minutes and treasurer Vi McKietiuk reported a 190 profit and unsettled ticket totals. A regional meeting update was given by Elizabeth Doubleday and others, and plans for a June 24 Smorgasbord at Centennial Day were approved. Members discussed Winnipeg convention attendance and entry of a float. Next meeting is at Anne Slon's cabin with hostesses listed.

Weekend Visitors Fill Vantage Area Homes

Winnipeg residents visited area families during the weekend with many listed as guests at the homes of Hamilton Belinsky and Stitt while others traveled from Brandon Nestor and Elphinstone. Several locals extended well wishes for a speedy recovery to Mr. Wm Armstrong in Shoal Lake Hospital.

Division Levy Jumps Tax Rate In Rossburn Council Meeting

The Rossburn village council held a May 18 meeting approving financial and recreation reports, granting a $75 donation to the Rossburn Minor Baseball Association, funding centennial decorations, passing several by laws, approving building permits, and setting 1967 tax rates including 64.4 mills for uncontro lable and 21.5 mills for controllable purposes with frontage tax. Senior Baseball Club Opens Season With Three Wins

Rossburn beat Grandview 9 to 8 in the May exhibition opener with Tony Kalechyn as the winning pitcher. The following Sunday Rossburn routed Grandview 11 to 0 behind Leonard Mackedenski. In the league opener Rossburn defeated Binscarth 5 to 2 with Don Luhowy winning. Next game Rossburn at Angusville on May 26.
