Pentecostal Assembly continues under Pastor Rev A J Hall with weekly services and community outreach programs. Organizers announce ongoing worship, Bible study sessions, and local charity efforts led by the church leader.
The column lauds the Allied Tunisian campaign, credits Allied commanders with swift victory, and warns of continued strikes and monopolies. It questions oil rubber tradeoffs, urges grain-based synthetic rubber, and criticizes Quebec MPs for opposing Britain aid despite Canada’s wartime role.
The Wartime Prices and Trade Board guidance answers readers on orange prices and ceiling levels, rationing rules, illegal barter, meat coupon use, bicycle tire replacement, chocolate purchases overseas, and butter portions in restaurants, stressing reporting overcharging and conservation.
A spare tire and rim were found and a reward is offered for information leading to recovery. Report to the Review Office to claim the reward.
The week saw snow delays impact farmers awaiting spring work. Mike Brykaluk worked at Bitle garage for the summer while Lawrence Lerlago left for military training last week. Nick Verbowski and Brykaluk traveled to Birtle, and Miss Leng Lindsay of Roblin was engaged to teach temporarily. Mrs John Huska visited Pine River with her mother. The Verbowskis and Harry Verbowski attended John Mush oa's home gathering Sunday.
The Dominion Victory Loan objective exceeds 100 million with Manitoba at 80 424 850. Sub units show strong local support with buyers including Rusell Boulton and Silver Creek. A long roll of subscribers is thanked, listing many individuals and local groups from Rosgburn to Rowsboro. A second subscribers list will appear in the next issue.
A speech extols paying heavy taxes and loans to defend democracy. It argues freedom is earned through sacrifice and fought for, not gifted, and calls for self discipline and daily democratic practice by ordinary citizens to sustain a global democratic era. Lord Tweedsmuir is cited on democracy as a mindset and spiritual duty.
A Dauphin merchant was recently fined 25 dollars and costs of twenty one days imprisonment for violating the Wartime Prices and Trade Board consumer credit regulations. He was charged with selling merchandise on credit to customers whose accounts were in arrears.
Local items report Jasper Strong returning from Winnipeg and others visiting Rossburn. A quilt raffle winner is announced, and two performances of Joan of Paris are scheduled at the Rossburn Theatre on May 20 and 22 with shows at 8 and 10 pm. Community events include a Silver Tea by the Soldier's Aid and a Red Cross dance. Death of Wm. Derlago noted along with funeral plans and bereavement sympathy.
Miss Ruth Miller began work at J G Stitt's home in Rossburn. A Friday dance in Tosburn was well received. The educational show at the ball on May 13 was enjoyed by all. Busineses will close at noon from June 3 until further notice. A Red Cross quilting session on May 12 produced two completed tops donated by Mrs Art Chesney and Miss J Halliday. A second quilting session is set for May 26. Bring in old woollens.
