Staffing discussed at school board meeting
RUSSELL The Pelly Trail School Division held its April 27 meeting with eight trustees present. Attendees included journalists and ED department reps. The board approved a job description for Supervisor of Transportation and Maintenance and accepted maintenance and transportation reports. Recommendations on staffing included hiring half-time teachers and paraprofessionals at several schools, with enrollment uncertainties at Rossburn Elementary. A rural municipality of Rossburn council meeting on April 30, 1981 approved employing Bill Miner as Patrol Operator with a two month probation and a later employment review. It also adopted duties for Chief Fire Guardian Stanley Magdaniuk covering the Riding Mountain park zone and ordered action to curb paper and other combustibles at the Vista nuisance ground. The council agreed to notify offenders by letter, publish notices, and seek help from Shoal Lake municipality in rectifying the situation.

Dr Morley A R Young 86 former medical superintendent and senior surgeon at Archer Memorial hospital Lamont Alberta died Wednesday April 16 following a 56 year medical career in Lamont Hospital He was a World War I veteran born in Rossburn with relatives still in Rossburn He spoke at the Rossburn cairn unveiling on July 11 1970 and is remembered by locals.
