Jim McKe, a farmer from Douglas, edged out J R Wat son of Elkhorn and Rev W Donovan of Rossburn to win the Social Credit banner for Marquette in the federal election. At Strathclair meeting, April 30, with over 100 in attendance, speakers urged debt reduction and social reforms under Social Credit plans.

Zalesky Rites Held for 78 Year Old Winnipeg Area Resident
Mrs. Josephine Zalesky died May 2 after a two year illness at Brandon Assiniboine Hospital. Born in Ukraine she immigrated to Canada at 14 and married Alexander Zalesky at 20. Survived by three sons Stan John Willie of Ontario and three daughters Ed Agnew Olga and Helen with 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Prayers were at Ukrainian People's Home May 6 and funeral at Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Interment in Municipal Cemetery. El Weir's Funeral Home in charge.

Orvilie McFeeters husband of Mary Anne McFeeters died May 7, 1962 at Rossburn Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral service held May 9 at Rossburn United Church conducted by Rev Ferguson and Royal Canadian Legion. Interment in Rossburn Cemetery. Survived by wife two sons Elwyn and John Delmer four daughters Florence Regina Vernice Anne Merle, one sister Lila, and one niece Joyce. Rae's Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Rural Council May Meeting in Rossburn 1962
The Rural Municipality of Rossburn council met May 8 1962 in the council chambers with Reeve Alex Cleland and councillors present. Motions adopted include financial report approval and denial of By-Law 866 on school district dissolution. An arbitrator was appointed for land transfer, a new light requested for Fishing Lake Resort, a 50 grant to the Game and Fish Association for predator control, and routine bill payments. The next meeting was set for June 12 1962.

The United Church Women held their regular meeting on May 8 with hymn No 41 scripture reading and a devotional by Mrs H Alexander. Ruby Armstrong led prayer and roll call noted clothing for overseas. A Mother’s Day Tea was planned for Saturday night May 12 in the annex with Home Baking or Candy table.
