The Waterworks By Law vote in Rossburn is scheduled for June 1 to decide the town's future growth. Local residents view this as the most important ballot in town history with property values tied to the outcome.
Rossburn Women's Institute met in the annex on May 7 at 3 p.m. The meeting opened with O Canada and the Creed. Delegates to the District Convention at Binsearth on May 22 were Viola Stitt and Anne Mcintosh. Demonstrations by 4 H girls included projects on plastic bottle items, a pink ele cake, and a Lounging Liz doll.
Those attending the funeral of the late Mrs. W. G. William son from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Williamson of Ottawa Ontario Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Lewellyn of Winnipeg Mrs. Donald Gordon of Sel kirk Mr. and Mrs. John Williamson of Binscarth Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Peden and Mr. Allan Young of Brandon. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Williamson remained from May 1 to May 4.

The Birdtail Branch of the Association for Retarded Children met in Shoal Lake with President Mrs. Birnie presiding. Secretary Mrs. Winslow read minutes as the constitution was presented and studied. The group covers Hamiota to Vista and outlines membership levels, while Willoughby of Manitoba Association noted 21 branches formed in ten years. An executive meeting is set for May 16 at 8 p.m. in the Shoal Lake Health Unit.
Mrs. W. G. Williamson born Katie Bella Hossie in Perth Ontario July 19 1866 died April 30 after long service as Rossburn United Church organist and Sunday school teacher. Survived by two sons a sister five grandchildren five great grandchildren. Funeral held and interment at Rossburn cemetery with pallbearers listed.
Vista residents welcomed guests from Brandon Winnipeg Shoal Lake and Sarnia Ont as families gathered for a wedding in Selsgirth on Saturday. Domestic and regional visitors included Mr and Mrs Willis Stitt Mr and Mrs Wm Sim Mr and Mrs F Sim Susan David and Jo Ann from Winnipeg and others.

The Sewing Achievement Night is set for May 16 at 7 30 p.m in the school auditorium with Miss McWilliams judging.
Mrs Mary Nechwediuk age 75 of Sandy Lake died suddenly at home on April 29 after a long illness. Born in Western Ukraine in 1888 she immigrated to Canada in 1905 with her parents. She married Carl Nechwediuk in 1911 and the family farmed near Sandy Lake before moving to town in 1953. She is survived by her husband Carl, daughter Elsie Horitchie of Rossburn, sons Mike Tony and Metro of Sandy Lake and Winnipeg, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild, three sisters and predeceased son Bill in 1957. Funeral details included a May 2 Ukr Catholic service officiated by Rev V Luchkin with interment at Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers were her sons Mike Metro Tony Paul Horitchie and grandsons Raymond and Kenneth Nechwediuk. Raginski Funeral Home of Oakburn arranged arrangements.
A Mother's Day Tea and Bake Sale will be held Saturday evening May 11 in the Town Hall Basement. Sponsored by the Altar Society of St Theresa R C Church.
The Oakburn annual event features a fastball tournament for men and women scheduled on Sunday May 19. Local teams from the region compete for titles and bragging rights in a community sports day.
