Prairies Suited to Plax Growing Across Canada’s Prairie Provinces
Canada’s prairie provinces Manitoba Saskatchewan and Alberta are best suited for growing flax or Ot Plax. A National Flax and Linseed committee survey notes 95 percent of flax comes from these provinces and points to rotation, clean seed, and soil as keys to yields of 15 to 20 bushels per acre. Farmers praise flax for drought tolerance and straw revenue, with reports of profits higher than wheat in some years. The study offers detailed planting and harvesting guidance and a booklet titled The Truth about flax.
