Manitoba faces unequal educational opportunity due to varied administrative units from one room rural schools to large urban boards. The Alberta model since 1937 shows 50 divisions with many multi room schools and centralized facilities boosting high school enrollment. Adopting larger divisions could provide more diverse curricula and better facilities while funding from current revenue.

Ranchvaie Birdtail reports Baris family back from Winnipeg visit while Bowcott remarks on three week stay with T Bowcott. Elvers family confirms son John Elvers is safely overseas. Cleland and Vivian Jean join Winnipesaukee visitors. Tickets for a mirror fundraiser donated by Mrs J Misko help pack boxes for soldiers abroad. You may be the lucky donor.
Miss Olga Uyraak of Sandy Lake spent the weekend at home. Mrs. L. Jay returned from Winnipeg. Frank Malanchus traveled to Winnipeg last week. Mr. and Mrs. Tutkaluke and Kalaturnyk visited Oakburn relatives. Holubitsky and Yanick motored to Brandon, while the Melnyk and Wolochatiuk couples toured Ethelbert. The Malanchuk Transfer’s first Winnipeg run occurred last Monday. Bud MacLean on leave from Kalifax N.5. Sgt N Dansluk of the C.A.S. spent two weeks on leave with his wife in Oakburn. Oakburn High School Lit Society sponsored a dance at the Ukr. Nat. Home on Friday April 28 with Dubby’s Orchestra. Miss Kay Yarysh wed Mr. Mike Bohonas of Winnipeg in Oakburn Greek Catholic Church on April 22. A small family reception followed. A daughter was born to Sgt. and Mrs. N. Davyluk at Shoal Lake Hospital on Sunday April 16.
Mr Peter Tucker of Solsgirth, formerly of Mears, visited the district briefly. Gov Elliot Tucker is in General Hospital overseas. Mee Kitler Peter Tucker and John Danyuk have moved to Solsgirth with their cattle and stock.
Families and relatives from Dauphin to Oakburn and Seech spent Easter visiting each other. Mr and Mrs Harry Derkech and Alex joined relatives in Dauphin while Miss Teenie Gerelue and Mrs J 3 Gerelus travelled to Winnipeg for a few days. Numerous hospitality visits occurred at the homes of the Procaks, Sydors, Maliations, Peechs, and Gereluses with extended family from Shoal Lake and Grandview also gathering.

Military circles in Regina followed the two week confinement of Lieut. Chas W. Johnstone district salvage and disposal officer to the Regina Hospital maternity ward. He said he was the victim of circumstances as space shortage forced the transfer. Johnstone returned home childless amid mixed acceptance of the explanation.

Football game planned for Thursday night May 41 at school grounds between Koesburn and Vista High in Rossburn.
