Jim's Auto opens in Rossburn with family team
Jim Saley and Dolores Saley reopen former Slon & Sons garage as Jim's Auto on Main St Rossburn in February 1998 after a July fire destroyed the original business. The rebuilt 120 by 45 foot shop heats with waste oil, adds technician William Cottingham, stocks tires and batteries, serves cars trucks tractors and farm machinery, and operates with Dolores and daughter Krissy at the front.

Time capsule plans advance for 2000 celebrations
The Celebrations 2000 Committee met February 15 with Mervin Koscielny reporting price quotes for a turkey statue at about 17000 including delivery. About 200 Yearbook Cookbook forms circulated, Millennium Park 45 grant applied for, and local groups including RCMP, Ukrainian Catholic Church, Lions Club, and Rossburn hospital eyeing items for the capsule to be opened in 2025. A town drop-off point and Oct 1 1999 deadline announced. next meeting April 12.

Nurses Rally for a 26 Percent Pay Increase
Nurses from across the Marquette region joined over 600 peers in Winnipeg for the Manitoba Nurses Union rally It's Raining Rally on March 15. They carried umbrellas and rain coats along Broadway to pressure the government to tap its rainy day fund to meet demands. With the contract expiring at month end they seek a 26 percent increase over two years.
