Wildlife Habitat Canada biologist John Morgan notes earliest spring indicators as horned larks arrive in Manitoba. They come by late February to early March, sometimes as early as February, ahead of other species. Larks seek bare ground on farms and field edges, with robins following later.
The Rossburn and District Arts Council hosted a Mardi Gras weekend on February 28 and March 1 featuring an eighteen float parade Judges Ed and Dianne Clowes Maridee and Keith Warner. Elwood Fawcett won in the individual Oldtyme Preacher category with Ken Oakley earning an honourable mention for Clown. The Rossburn 4-H Handiworkers won the group category with a close nod to the T-D Bank for the Slinky. Brian Ramsay performed The Happy Hillbilly and Town Hall attendance was high.
Village of Rossburn council plans July 24 to July 31 1988 as the 75th anniversary for the incorporation year 1913. A Rossburn logo contest offers a 50 prize. Other items include 1987 fire department budget approval, two summer student positions, planning district formation, and roadwork and library funding updates.
