Manitobans receive new MPI spending relief and rate stability
MPI reports a $49 million deficit five years ago in its Autopac Rate Stabilization Reserve and outlines a multi year rebuilding plan to shield customers from rate shock due to severe weather. In May MPI asked the Public Utilities Board to eliminate dividends back to Manitobans as part of delivering promised rebates while maintaining low costs and broad coverage. Investment income normally paid to private shareholders reduced policy costs by about $80 per policy.
