Rossburn Village Council Adopts School Area By Law

The Rossburn village council met with all members present in the council chambers. Minutes and financial report were adopted. A by law for a secondary school area received first and second readings and was passed for electors' submission. Councillors Vladyka and Antonichuk were appointed to negotiate street closure with adjacent property owners. Regular meeting set for July 19, 1955 at 8 pm.

Silver Beach doubleheader draws fair crowd

Russell beat Shoal Lake in a Sunday double header at Silver Beach. Tony Melnyk of Birtle caught a 16 inch bass, while Jack of the same town also fished Sunday. Avild Liske of Inglis landed a 6 pound 5 ounce bass last week at Silver Beach.

Local Family Visits Spur Canada USA Trip

Mr. Post with Mr. and Mrs. G Smith of Glenella spent Sunday with their son in law and daughter Mr. and Mrs A C Smith. Taras Todosin of Levack Ontario visited his mother and relatives before a trip to British Columbia for a family reunion with Maria Pearl and their families after eleven years. They traveled via a big Ben highway through the United States returning to Rossburn.

Stucco Job Accident Injures Two Men at Drug Store

Last Wednesday near 6 pm two men stuccoing the Drug Store exterior were rushing to finish before supper. Mel Taylor suffered a fractured skull when he fell from a ladder steadied by Walter Richards, who was injured as Taylor’s feet struck him in the face.

4-H Rally Day at Birtle Promises City Parade and Competitions

The 1955 4-H Rally at Birtle Agricultural Grounds on July 11 features judging for Clothing Food Beef Swine Garden Potato Poultry Grain and Tractor clubs. Demonstrations Dress Revue and a tractor driving contest accompany a monster afternoon parade led by the Hamiota Citizens Band. Mr and Mrs Charlie Ratcliffe returned home from a Winnipeg convention. Mr and Mrs Richard Scantle of Birtle visited, as did Max Ukrainec and family from Fort William. John Hyra and Alex Parabec went to Winnipeg on business. Vic Ferguson and family of Silverton visited Mrs E Ferguson. The Brokenhead school farewell party for Miss Lepchinsky drew over 100 with music, flowers, a bedspread and kettle gift. she leaves for Ladywood after two years in Angusville.

Meeting of Rossburn Girls Club Ends Season

The C G IL T Group held its final season meeting at Carol Stewart’s home with 13 girls present. A farewell gift was given to Miss Laycock, followed by lunch. Several girls will attend United Church Camp at Clear Lake this summer with Mrs. Stewart as Camp Mother.

Rossburn Pony Leaguers Clinch Division Title

The Rossburn Pony Leaguers finished the schedule with a one sided victory over Oakburn at Oakburn. Winning pitcher was Drul. The win secures Rossburn the division championship. Congratulations to the team and manager Norm Major on a fine season.

Mr and Mrs C Palmer and Wilfred visited G Browns. Mike Sotas left Tuesday for the MFAC Provincial Annual convention at Brandon. Mrs J Cleland visited Mr and Mrs A dland on Sunday. Mr and Mrs Gordon Kilburg visited friends over the week end.
