The 1963 4 H Rally will be held at the Rossburn Fair Grounds on Monday July 8 with judging of competitions displays uniforms and banners a parade and prize presentations including gold watches. Admission to grounds is free.
Plans nearly complete for a Tent Mission at Lizard Point Reserve from July 1 to 5. Daily Vacation Bible School runs mornings with adult sessions on Christian doctrine, while afternoons include small work projects and sports. Services held every evening at 8 p.m. featuring preachers Jackson of Elphinstone Krepps of Virden Beitel of Rosburn and Herrod of Brandon.
Debrah Denise Danyliuk was christened at the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox church in Rossburn with godparents Nellie Gapka and Melvin Naharinka. Dinner followed at the home of grandparents Mr and Mrs Mike Bucklaschuk.
Vista Wolf Cub Pack and mothers gathered at the R. B. Clay home to honor Mrs. McNulty, assistant Lady Cub master, who is leaving the district. The Cubs presented a gift in appreciation of her service, followed by a social time and lunch.
Play in the Senior Baseball League has been sparse with only one game reported to the league secretary. Angusville widened its lead as the lone contest of the week highlighted the club’s steady performance.
Mrs Euphemia Maxwell born Euphemia Johnston in Scotland on February 6 1884 died June 16 at St Pauls Hospital Saskatoon after a long illness. She married William Maxwell in 1904 and lived in Rossburn Manitoba before moving to Calgary. Funeral was June 20 at Rossburn United Church with T H Ferguson officiating. Interment in Rossburn Cemetery. Survived by husband five sons and three daughters, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The Agricultural Society raised 212.00 at a Co-op talent night and thanks the Coop for sponsoring the helpful program.
The Student Council sponsors a senior prom at Rossburn Town Hall on Friday June 28. Music by the Melody Kings. Admission is one dollar.
Mr. M J G McMullen outlined the importance of Manitoba’s centennial at a Rossburn 4H Club sponsored meeting in the Rossburn Town Hall on June 15. The event featured music, a Bert Mitchell plaque presentation, and films from Flin Flon to Cartwright highlighting historical sites, famous residents, and the need for early planning to attract visitors.
Village council on June 21 1963 passed third reading and final approval of By Law 351 to fund waterworks and sewage collection and disposal. Fire truck charges were revised. stop sign requested at Mountain and Victoria Avenues near PTH 45. building permits issued for Peter Zimmerrman and Peter Baydak. officers paid returning and travel expenses. meeting adjourned to July 26 1963.
The annual Grandmother's Tea was held in the annex on Tuesday June 18 with 43 guests. Highlights included music from Miss Barker and Miss Reid, slides by Mrs. Viola Stitt, talks on pioneer days by Mrs. Huston, and a piano program by Mrs. Margaret Locke. Prizes were awarded to several grandmothers, and Linda Levitski won the Field and Track WI Trophy.
A 1951 Ford driven by Morris Patryluk of Toronto left No 45 highway about 20 miles east of Rossburn at 3 p.m. Monday. Paul Patryluk, 85, of Elphinstone was killed. His wife suffered multiple injuries and was moved from Rossburn hospital to Winnipeg General hospital on Wednesday.
