It argues deductibles reduce unnecessary billing and support bed availability and nursing shortages.
The Women's Institute hosted the annual Grandmothers Tea at the Legion Hall in Rossburn on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Seventy miles of memories were shared as 33 grandmothers gathered with four generations present, prizes awarded, and performances by Leona Hutton, Judy Huston, and Lesia Chopp.
A Rossburn Manitoba Farmers Union regular meeting on June 8 1955 heard District Director R Usik review union activities. Highlights included briefs to the Manitoba Telephone System crop insurance and parity prices with progress reported. Delegates were appointed for the District Convention and a full report promised next week.
District 3 MFAC board members meet in Minnedosa on June 11 with Mike Sotas and others. A district convention is planned for Strathclair on June 22 with a guest speaker. Credentials available through local Co operative Associations for proper completion by the Secretary and President.
Tuesday evening a women’s softball game was played with Anne Palmer and Myrnie Kreshwski as captains. The final score favored Anne Palmer’s side 20 to 4.
In a 41 year old Rossburn Times reprint, Rossburn and Russell met on the Rossburn diamond in a league fixture. The game ended 10 to 10 amid poor play by Rossburn, with Kelly and Pickpocket Joe excelling in field and Joe hitting well. Russell pitcher Mickie spun a strong game but could not avert the draw.
Fish Lake derby yields 97 entries and a profit of 106.70 after expenses. D Gillen of Russell wins with 2 lb 9 oz pickerel. Bill Pokrapany 1 lb 6 1/4 oz second. Chomica 7 3/4 oz perch tops its division. List of entrants and donors noted. next pier erection event planned with calls for volunteers.
Rossburn Pee Wees faced Angusville last Wednesday with a 6 6 tie after Falvers and Kowal pitched and the game halted by rain. The following Tuesday Rossburn lost 16 3 as Flyers and Kowal combined on the mound for Angusville with Pritchard and Pushka also pitching.
On Monday evening Rossburn visited Birtle and lost 19 to 9. Pitchers Henry Dubeniuk and Bobby Hamilton performed well for Rossburn. Birtle hit one home run. Rossburn has one remaining game with Oakburn. a win would secure the section championship for the locals.
Nellie Wasilka and John Sajiw were married in a 4 p.m. June 4 ceremony at Holy Eucharist Church Winnipeg with Rev Thor Shpytkovsky officiating. The bride, daughter of Mike and Mary Wasilka, wore a pearl adorned princess gown while bridesmaids wore pink gowns. The couple plans to reside in Jasper Alberta after a Newport Falls Boston New York honeymoon trip.
