One Day Municipal Convention Draws Eighty Delegates
The Rural and Village Councils of the Northern Judicial District met at Rossburn Town Hall on Wednesday June 15 drawing about eighty delegates. Proceedings opened with a reception and registration, with prayers, addresses by local officials, a welcome by Mayor J G Stitt, and remarks by Stuart Garson. A banquet closed the day with speeches by S Marcoux and others while delegates thanked Rossburn for its hospitality.

Rossburn Hospital Seeks New Building After Temporary Closure
The Rossburn Hospital Committee explains the temporary hospital closing due to nurse shortages and transportation limits while planning a new facility to be ready after mid-summer. They thank donors from Pete's Lake and Vista Jr Red Cross and promise to reopen during extreme emergencies as a larger project progresses this fall.

Tuberculosis Survey Visits Rossburn and Ranchvale

Farm Field Day At Mitchell Farm This Saturday
The Rossburn Agricultural Society and Extension Service sponsor a field day at Bert Mitchell's farm on Saturday June 25 starting at 2 p.m. An Extension Service demonstrator and district agricultural rep D L Fletcher will show proper feeding and fitting techniques for cattle show purposes. Calf Club members and interested members of the public are urged to attend.

Closing Exercises at Rossbur h High School May 31
Closing program at the Rossburn High School town hall on May 31 began with O Canada and an invocation by W B Eaton. Mrs Williamson chairing announced student vocal selections from Grade IX and X, class prophecies by Julia Sicinski and Roy Paisner, then solos by Evangeline Karmazena. Merle McFeeters delivered the valedictory as president of the student council, with remarks by Inspector R W Lightly, followed by a vocal duet by Gertrude Alexander and Alice Shwaluk. A Passing of the Torch occurred from Gr X to Gr XII and souvenirs were handed to participants, then a cafeteria lunch. Participants included many Grade XI and X students listed in the program.

Local Juniors Lose 18 4 as Oak Lake Tops Hamiota Tourney
Juniors traveled to Hamiota for the tournament supervised by W J Strong of Rossburn and E Menzies of Vista. Oak Lake defeated the Juniors 18 to 4 after a day of strong baseball. Flemming swept Souris to win the tournament among sixteen teams. In Rossburn Fair Grounds action Foxwarren beat Rossburn 10 to 9 with Bill Carson pitching well but errors hurt the locals. An Angusville mishap sent them to back Foxwarren, who then won a separate 2 to 0 game. BORN notices report Shirley Diana Huska born June 11 at Sacred Heart Hospital Russell and another daughter born June 14 to Oliver R Hodge and wife.
